Sustainability

Net Positive Isn’t Easy. But It’s Worth It.

At Novatech, we set ourselves a goal to create a HQ that would be Net Positive by the end of 2023.

Our journey wasn’t cheap and we faced roadblocks along the way. However, taking steps towards this goal has given us a real sense of purpose. We hope our story can be inspiring to other businesses looking to up their sustainability efforts.

ESG Improvements to Our HQ

We have made the following changes to our 30,000sq ft headquarters in Portsmouth:

  • Improved the insulation of the building by re-skinning the entire roof.

  • Installed a 400KWh Solar Panel system, consisting of 825 panels, maximizing the roof space of the building.

  • Invested in air source heat pumps and an electrical thermal unit to remove gas entirely from our building by the end of the year, enabling us to take another step closer to becoming an A+ energy rated building.

  • Invested in employee training so they understand what impact they can have in reducing our energy consumption as a business.

The Catalysts of Our Net Positive Success

David Furby, CEO

David believes that businesses should not only participate in carbon offset schemes, but also make tangible changes in their own working environments to reduce their carbon footprint in a visible, measurable, and impactful way.

John Cooper, Operations Manager

“Learning about the technologies involved, seeing them in action, and the impact they have had on our business has made me consider what I can do myself at home. Being present at the first switch on of the solar energy system and seeing all that hard work becoming a reality, to know that we achieved exactly what we set out to do, is certainly a gratifying experience."

Vicky Gamble, QHSE Controller

Vicky played a pivotal role in leading our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) journey to a Net Positive HQ. She has worked tirelessly to educate employees about our journey and is responsible for driving through our ‘Government Approved’ Carbon reduction plan.
